About this work
“Crimson Hour”
This painting is inspired by the brief, intense window each evening in the Canary Islands when the sun drops below the horizon and the sky briefly turns crimson before fading to indigo. Deep reds wash across the upper composition, reflected back as warmer pinks and oranges in the water below — the kind of sky that makes everyone on a beach stop and look up at the same time.
It is a piece about the dramatic, generous skies that the islands are famous for. A statement painting for a living room, dining room, anywhere you want to bring a bit of that southern Atlantic intensity indoors.
