About this work

“Echoes of the Ravine”

This painting is inspired by the deep barrancos — the green ravines — of La Gomera and the laurel forests of northern Tenerife, where the Canary Islands hide some of their oldest and quietest landscapes. Layered greens overlap from soft sage through darker forest tones, with occasional flashes of warmer ochre suggesting bark or sunlight reaching the floor through the canopy.
The piece is about the islands' inland half — the cooler, wetter side often missed by visitors who only see the beaches. A grounding, restful painting; particularly good in rooms that already lean toward natural materials.
