Light at Depth

This painting is inspired by the strange light that survives at depth in clear Canary Islands water — long after the surface has gone dark, glints of warm colour still arrive from below as fish or coral catch the last of the sun. Deep blues and blacks dominate, with quiet warm accents suspended throughout, each one reading as a small luminous event.
The piece holds the contradiction at the heart of all dark-water paintings: stillness on the surface, life underneath. Pairs naturally with the Sea Chakras pieces.
