Teal Strata

This painting is inspired by the way Canary Islands waters layer themselves vertically when seen from a cliff — distinct bands of teal, dark green, and deep blue that don't quite blend into each other, as if the sea itself were geologically stratified. Horizontal blocks of overlapping teal hold the composition together, with rougher brushwork inside each block giving the surface texture.
The piece reads as both seascape and abstract geometry, depending on how close you stand. Works in offices, kitchens, or any room that benefits from a piece that rewards looking twice.
