Willow at the Water's Edge

This painting is inspired by the slim, downward-trailing trees that grow near sheltered Canary Islands water — willows and willow-like species that bend toward the surface as if drinking from it. The composition is mostly vertical: long brushstrokes hanging from a darker upper band into a shimmering, ground-level sweep of blues and greys.
The piece carries a quiet, almost mournful tone — but a contained one. A painting for thoughtful rooms: a study, a hallway, a place where an extra moment of stillness is welcome.
